In the design of isolation ring, the processing and service environment of tubing and casing should be fully considered, so as to ensure that it is not corroded by the environment, but also has enough ability to withstand impact.
Polyvinyl chloride (soft) PVC is used as the main raw material for isolation ring. This material has:
Good chemical stability; acid and alkali corrosion resistance; low temperature and high temperature resistance; not easy to aging and embrittlement in high and low temperature environment; moisture and aging resistance; non-flammable.
The isolation ring has good physical properties, good tensile strength, guaranteed continuous cracking during installation and transportation, and moderate elasticity. Excessive elasticity will not play an isolation role. Under the action of steel pipe weight or external force, steel pipe may still be in contact; too small elasticity will be more effective.
It is easy to destroy the paint on the surface of steel pipe. In dimension design, the inner diameter of the isolation ring is 1% larger than the corresponding pipe body, which ensures that the isolation ring is easy to fasten and not easy to loosen; the radial thickness of the ring body is generally 15-20 mm, and the axial thickness is generally 10-15 mm.

Generally speaking, after processing threads, the isolation ring should be fastened, and the isolation ring should be removed before the tube goes down to the oil well.
When using the elastic cross-type isolation ring, only the isolation ring is unfolded and wound along the radial direction of the pipe body, then the jack is closed; when using the elastic insertion type isolation ring, only two sets of components to be inserted along the radial direction of the pipe body are inserted into the corresponding insertion position. The isolation ring can be removed in the opposite way. It is quite simple and convenient to use.
In order to effectively prevent pipe contact and collision and protect pipe and thread, it is recommended that 3-4 isolation rings be used for each pipe.
